Usage Tips

  1. Iceberg lettuce can be a good choice for salads, can be shredded in snacks, can be used as a garnish, and in sandwiches.
  2. It can also be used in braising and stir-frying.
  3. Wash it well before use to avoid any food borne illness.
  4. It will keep for over a week when stored wrapped in a damp paper towel in a plastic bag in the crisper drawer of the refrigerator.
  5. It pairs well with herbs such as basil, mint, and flat leaf parsley, lemon, hard-boiled eggs, bacon, pork, fish, shrimp, honey, tomatoes, shallots, green onions, chives, grilled chicken, and a classic vinaigrette of olive oil, dried herbs, and cider vinegar.

Description

Iceberg Lettuce is medium to large in size and is spherical in shape, similar to cabbage. The firm head of Iceberg lettuce is tightly packed with broad, thick, and crisp leaves that are concentrated with a high-water content. Its leaves vary in color depending on the particular cultivar, but its outer leaves are typically light green in color while the inner leaves range from pale yellow to a translucent white. Iceberg lettuce is available throughout the year. Today it can be found in North America, Central America, South America, Africa, Europe, Asia, and Australia. It is used in Chinese cuisine.
