Instant Rawa Idli Recipe

Idli along wid it's side servings is one of the best and balanced nutrition for breakfast or any day of the meal. The side servings chutney and sambhar provide more essential nutrients to our body. Idli recipes are very common and I make it frequently for breakfast and also for lunch boxes. I try to make different types of idli recipes and hence it does not make a monotonous morning meal. having said that, Rava idli or semolina idli is very consistent in our weekly menu. perhaps because this recipe does not require previous day preparation and also no overnight fermentation. this is a huge bonus for me, as I have to take extra pre batter early morning, add some baking soda/ Eno fruit salt to make it puffy followed by steaming it in the idli stand. that’s it! healthy and tasty idli is ready within no time.

Just be careful with the proportions of the ingredients while making batter. The proportion of Semolina:curd:water is 1.25:1:1

Ingredients For Instant Rawa Idli Recipe

Methods
  • 1. Take semolina in a bowl. (use the same cup to measure semolina, curd and water). The cup size can vary but the proportion remains the same i.e. semolina:curd:water is 1.25:1:1. I have used the cup used for measuring baking ingredients.
  • 2. Add curd , baking soda and salt to it. Now add water and mix it well to make batter. Cover and let the batter rest for 15 minutes. Put water to boil in the steamer.
  • 3. Grease the idli mould and pour a ladle full of batter into each mould. Place the idli mould in the steamer and cover and cook it for 8-10 minutes.
  • 4. Remove the stand and let it cool. Brush the top of the idlis with ghee while they are cooling in the stand. Cool and unmould the idlis and serve them hot. They are super soft.
