Description

Alternanthera sessilis is an annual, perennial herb that grows upto 0.2-1 m in height, with strong taproots. Alternanthera sessilis leaves are wide ovate to lanceolate leaves that are juicy and crunchy. They are hairless with no teeth along the margin. They are 2cm to 8 cm long and less than an inch wide. These leaves are highly valued as a vegetable and herbal drug. There are white or yellow lines on the leaves. They can be eaten cooked as a vegetable or raw as a salad.
