  1. Antioxidant (INS 304) can be used to prevent food from deterioration caused by oxidation.
  2. It can also be added to food colors, processed meats, cereals, chicken stock cubes, pork pies, sausages, baby formulas and margarines.

Antioxidant (INS 304) is a fatty acid ester of ascorbic acid produced by reacting palmitic acid (fat source) and ascorbic acid (vitamin C). It is an additive approved by the European Union and is used as a synthetic antioxidant in food and drink products. It is in the form of white or yellowish-white solid and has a citrus-like odour.
