Bay leaf is used for flavouring dishes. Fresh Bay leaves will provide more flavour than the dried varieties. They are used in cooking and are also used for pickling. They are available in powdered form as well.
Choose fresh bay leaves which are glossy and green in colour. In case of dried bay leaves, select greyish brown leaves which emit a sweet fragrance. Check properly for insect infestation.
