Description

Bifidobacterium is a genus of gram-positive, non-spore-forming rods that occur in high numbers in the human gut. They are a group of y-shaped bacteria found particularly in intestines and are considered very important for health. They typically make up less than 10% of the bacteria in the adult gut microbiome. They are often used as probiotics in supplements or certain foods, for their health benefits. The best way to increase bifidobacterium in the gut is by eating fiber-rich fruit, vegetables, nuts, whole-grains, seeds and fermented foods.
