Description

Blackcurrant is a woody shrub in the family Grossulariaceae grown for its berries, native to temperate parts(where it prefers damp fertile soils) of central and northern Europe and northern Asia. Blackcurrant pulp is a translucent pulp with red or green tones, extracted from ripe black-blue blackcurrant by pressing it. It can be blended smooth and used in beverage, confectionery and baking industry to add blackcurrant flavour.

Selection Guide

To extract blackcurrant pulp at home, look for uniform-sized, plump berries, with skin free from cuts and blemishes. When buying packed blackcurrant pulp, check for its manufacturing and expiry date to confirm its freshness.
