  1. The greatest use of carbon dioxide in food industry is in production of carbonated beverages, it provides the sparkle in carbonated beverages such as soda water, beer and sparkling wine.
  2. It also helps in preservation of processed food by reducing the amount of oxygen inside the sealed packaging.


Carbon dioxide is a chemical compound composed of one carbon and two oxygen atoms. It is often referred to by its formula CO2. It is oftenly used in carbonated drinks to enhance the taste and shelf life of the product.


Carbon dioxide has lot of side effects like headache, weakness, dizziness, shortness of breath, blurred vision.(1)
