Cardamom is called the Queen of Spices and is the world's third most expensive spice. Cardamom is native to India, Bhutan, Nepal, and Indonesia. Pods of Cardamom are small, triangular in cross-section and shaped as spindles.
Select whole cardamoms and grind them whenever required to retain the flavour. It is advisable to select those cardamoms which have a greener pod for better flavour.
Consumption of cardamom in greater amount can cause gallstones. The cardamom seed can even cause gallstone colic (spasmodic pain).(2)
