Cayenne pepper is a moderately hot chili pepper in the family Capsicum annuum. They are red-colored peppers, 10 to 25 cm long often with a curved tip and rippled skin. Cayenne peppers can be dehydrated at 135 degrees F for at least 5 hours until they are completely dried. Cayenne Pepper Powder is the ground form of dried cayenne peppers. They are ground to fine, red powder in a spice blender. Cayenne pepper powder is used to enhance the flavour of the dishes.

Selection Guide

Look for completely dried and crisp chillies to make cayenne pepper powder at home. When buying in packaged form, check for its expiry date to confirm its freshness.
