Usage Tips

  1. Store dark chocolate chips in an airtight container and keep them refrigerated.
  2. Dark chocolate chips can be added to cakes, cookies, icecreams, puddings, muffins, oatmeal, crepes, sundaes and pies. They can also be used for lacing or topping baked goods. They can also be used to decorate frozen desserts.
  3. They can be melted and used in sauces. They can be added to healthy food products like granola bars and trial mix.


Dark chocolate chips are dark brown to black colored, small chocolate chunks in the shape of teardrop with flat bases. They are prepared from chocolate with 65-80% cocoa content. They may have the shape of rectangular or square blocks as well. They may vary in size from large to miniature but are usually less than 10 millimeters in diameter. They are used as a common ingredient in baking and desserts.

Selection Guide

Look for dark chocolate chips made from chocolate and not chocolate compound, for a good flavour and quality. Choose among the various sizes of dark chocolate chips. Make sure their shape is intact and they have no signs of moisture or moulds. Check for their "Use-by" date on the packaging.
