Usage Tips

  1. Edible camphor is used to increase the taste and flavour of many sweets and desserts, especially in South India.
  2. It can be used in making Sakkarai Pongal.
  3. Edible camphor should be added only by a pinch.
  4. It is used as one of the ingredients in preparation of a paan with other ingredients like fennel seeds, katha, cardamom.
  5. It should be stored in an air-tight box or plastic bag.

Description

Edible camphor is a white or transparent crystalline substance with a strong, aromatic odor. It is usually found in powder form.

  • Edible camphor is used as ingredient in an ayurvedic medicine called 'Karpoorasava'. This medicine is used to treat diarrhoea, vomiting and digestion problems.(1)
  • A pinch of it helps to have a good sleep.(1)
