Description

What is e627?

E627 or Disodium Guanylate is a natural sodium salt which acts as a flavour enhancer.  It is a colorless, white crystalline powder that helps to improve the taste of the foods to which it is added. Disodium guanylate is produced by fermentation, mostly from tapioca starch, but it can come from other sources such as yeast and sardines as well. It is often used in conjunction with monosodium glutamate(MSG). Flavour Enhancer (627) can be labelled as "natural flavors" on a food label, so it isn't always easy to determine if a food contains this additive.

Where can you find it?

E627 is widely used in instant noodles, pizza, cheese, potato chips, crackers, sauces, ice cream, canned food, soups, puddings, condiments and seasonings.
