Food acid 297 is a chemical compound, derived from genus fumaria. It is odourless and white crystalline in texture. Food acid 290 is used as an acidity regulator and flavouring agent in processed foods.

Excessive consumption of Food Acid (297) can cause kidney disorders. It may also cause irritation in eyes and gastrointestinal distress.(1)
