Fructose is one of the three dietary monosaccharides which is a sweet substance, naturally present in fruits and vegetables. It is in the form of white crystalline sugar which is water soluble. It is considered as a sweetening agent.

It is available in powdered and syrup form. Check for the "best before" date on its packaging.


Excessive consumption of fructose may cause metabolic disorders. It may increase the bad cholesterol levels in the body. It may also increase uric acid leading to high blood pressure levels and gout. It may cause insulin resistance leading to diabetes and obesity.(1)
