Description

An ice cream cone is a dry, cone-shaped pastry which enables ice cream to be held in the hand and eaten without a bowl or spoon. There are various types of ice cream cones that are available these days like wafer (or cake) cones, waffle cones, sugar cones, pretzel cones, and chocolate-coated cones (inside). For the first time, edible cones were mentioned in the French cooking book in 1825. The earliest cones were rolled by hand, from hot and thin wafers until the machines came into play. Today, the ice cream cone is a standard in any ice cream store or stand. This tasty treat is known as a way to cool down in the summer and makes an edible container for a cold snack. There are three main dry ingredients that compose all types of cones- Wheat flour, tapioca flour, and sugar which are chosen for baking quality, strength, and relative sweetness, respectively. The quantity of sugar is a major distinguishing feature between cone types.
