Description
Lavender is a sweet-smelling herb that bears beautiful purple flowers and belongs to the mint family. The studies indicate that it is native to the Mediterranean, the Middle East, and India, with a history dating as far back as 2,500 years. Lavender can be used in two different forms either as an essential oil or an essence. An ‘essential oil’, is the concentrated liquid containing aromatic compounds that is extracted from the flowers but it is used for aesthetic purposes while the essence is extracted from the oil and is specially formulated so that it will integrate with other ingredients in recipes to give a consistent result. It is used as a flavouring in the food.
