Lemon Grass Flavour

Vegetarian

Taste Profile

Lemongrass imparts a flavor of lemon with hints of ginger.

Description

Lemongrass is an herb with a lemony scent. It is a common ingredient in Thai cooking and can also be found in dishes from Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and India. It is a popular misconception that lemongrass must taste very similar to lemon. However, lemongrass has a flavor profile all its own. While it is citrusy with a lemony flavor, it tastes almost like a mix of lemon and lemon mint. It has the same essential oil as lemons and it is often used in herbal teas to give a lemon flavor. Fresh lemongrass can have floral and minty notes as well. Lemongrass is also very fragrant, with an aroma that adds its own hint of flavor to dishes in which it is used.
