It can also be used as a frosting on cakes and candies. It can also be moulded into sweets like chocolate-covered marzipan.

Description

Marzipan is a off-white to white, smooth paste prepared with ground almonds, sugar, corn syrup and egg whites. It is a light, candy-like mixture, originated in Italy. It is used to coat cakes or to make confectionery items. Compared to almond paste, marzipan has a smooth texture and is moldable because of egg white used in it. Almond paste has a coarser texture and is less sweet.
