Mushroom Extract is an extract obtained from a single mushroom or a combination of numerous mushroom varieties that includes reishi, chaga, cordyceps and lion’s mane mushrooms. The mushrooms(in raw form) are harvested, dried, and ground into a fine powder which is then cooked in water ( to release water-soluble compounds) or alcohol (to release non-water soluble compounds) to prepare extract. Each variety has a different flavor and provides different health benefits. The extract is in the form of tinctures, powders, and pills. It has gained popularity as remedies for a variety of health ailments, including seasonal allergies, common cold, insomnia, and inflammation.
Look for bio-available (digestible) mushrooms extracts as simple extracts can not be humans. Also, make sure they are made from organic mushrooms. Check for their "use-by" date on the packaging.
