Description
Ocimum canum Sims. is a traditional medicinal plant distributes throughout Tamil Nadu. It is commonly known as Nai Tulasi in Tamil. It has branched out from its base, with angle stems and open foliage. The extract (a colourless aromatic essential oil) from its leaves is rich in antioxidants, particularly flavonoids. It is used for medicinal purposes to treat various diseases and in lowering blood glucose, especially to manage diabetes mellitus.
