Usage Tips

  1. Poppy seed paste can be stored in the refrigerator for a few days. It may turn slightly darker due to oxidation. Poppy seeds paste can be mixed with butter or milk and sugar. It can be used as a filling in pastries, poppy seed rolls and some croissants. The paste can be flavored with lemon or orange zest, vanilla, heavy cream, cinnamon, and chopped blanched almonds or walnuts adde, to be used in baked goods.

Description

Poppy seeds are tiny, kidney-shaped, oilseed obtained from the opium poppy , Papaver somniferum. Poppy seeds paste can be soaked in water and blended in a mixer along with the water or milk to a smooth paste. It is white in color with a smooth paste-like texture( its thickness may vary as required). It can be used alone or flavoured with lime juice, sugar, vanilla and other flavours.
