Protein isolate is basically a type of protein powder that has undergone a little more processing than a concentrate. The processing steps are just simple cooking, filtering, and decanting off fat and other lower protein portions to separate and collect the purest protein fractions. Three main varieties of protein isolate is soy protein, whey protein, and pea protein. Soy protein isolate is made from defatted soybean flakes that have been washed in either water or alcohol to remove the sugars and dietary fiber. Soy protein isolate is then dehydrated and turned into a powder. Whey protein isolate is created by extracting components from whey. Food products that contain whey are milk, cheese, yogurt. Pea Protein Isolate is basically a natural vegetable protein derived from peas. It is derived from yellow peas that have been processed by using a cold-water filtration method to remove much of the added starch and fiber content which is naturally-occurring within the pea.
