Description

It is a dark red colored dye that is used in sports drinks, candies, condiments and cereals. It is a chemical compound that comes from coal tar. Dyes made from coal tar are produced by mixing many fragrant smelling hydrocarbons like benzyne and toluene.

Note

It may cause symptoms of hypersensitivity in some people, including swelling around the mouth, and it can also cause hives. (1)
