Description

Coconut is the fruit of the coconut palm. Coconuts probably originated somewhere in Indo-Malaya and are one of the most important crops of the tropics. Coconut flesh can be eaten dried or fresh. The world’s top three producers of coconut are Indonesia, the Philippines, and India. The harvested coconuts from these countries are turned into valuable coconut products. It can be incorporated in various recipes or eaten as a seperate dish. One such way of incorporating coconuts in the diet is in the form of roasted dry coconut. To roast the dry coconut, grate it well. Coconuts can be grated thinly or thickly. Whether thick or thin, grated coconuts take nearly 1-3 minutes to roast. Once grated, put it in a broad non- stick pan over a medium flame. Roast it till it becomes golden brown in color and firm in texture with a strong roasted fragrance. Once done, tansfer it into a bowl and let it cool down. As it cools down, transfer the roasted coconut into a mixer jar and blend it till a fine powder like consistency is achieved.

Selection Guide

It is very imporatnt to choose good variety of coconuts.Avoid discolored coconut as it indicates that the coconut isn’t fresh.
