Roasted Makhana

Makhana, are one of the highest-selling dry snacks these days. They serve as a healthy substitute to popcorn, not only because of their crunchy texture but also due to the health benefits they offer. Roasted makhana is a crunchy Indian snack to be enjoyed at snack time. To make roasted makhana, heat oil in a shallow pan on full flame. Once the oil is steaming hot, bring the flame to a low level. Add the lotus seed pops in the oil and roast until crunchy.
Season with red chili powder, turmeric powder, and black salt. Saute nicely until all the seed pops get coated with the spices. Turn off the flame. Season the seed pops with chaat masala. Roasted makhana are low in cholesterol, fat and sodium, making them an ideal snack for untimely hunger pangs. They are also gluten-free, protein-rich, and high in carbohydrates.
