Stabilizer (E340ii) is a colourless or white, crystalline or granular powder/mass. It is commonly used in food products as a stabilizer (that which maintains the uniform dispersal of substances in a food) emulsifier(that which forms or preserves a mixture of substances normally incapable of being mixed eg. oil and water), and texturiser (that which improves the consistency of the food). It also helps to lower the acid levels in processed foods. It can be used as an acid stabiliser in powder to prevent desiccation as well as to prevent the formation of the clump.
Consumption of Stabilizer (E340ii) over a long period can cause an imbalance to the phosphates in the body, resulting in headaches, constipation, confusion, heart disease, kidney disease, nausea, dizziness, vomiting, and diarrhea.(2)
