Description

Strawberry sauce is a culinary sauce prepared using strawberries as a main ingredient. Simple versions of this sauce are prepared by food industries using blended, macerated or crushed strawberries and sugar, along with some cornstarch as a thickener. Strawberry sauce is widely used as a dessert sauce on foods such as cheesecake, ice cream, sundaes, and cakes. To make a readily available strawberry sauce at home, wash around 2 cups of fresh strawberries and cut it into small pieces. Add the strawberries to a medium size saucepan and heat over medium flame. Add in the remaining ingredients like lemon juice and vanilla extract and stir to coat the strawberries in the sugar mixture. Once the mixture is boiling, reduce heat and allow to simmer for about 15 minutes. As the berries soften, juice will start pouring out. After the 15 minutes, remove the pot from the heat and mash the strawberries to desired consistency. Cover the pot and allow to cool for about 10 minutes and your fresh strawberry sauce is ready in no time.
