Description

Sulfiting Agents are commonly used food preservatives that act as antioxidants. Sulfiting agents have many functions and are used to prevent oxidation and browning of light-colored fruits and vegetables such as apples and potatoes, control microbial growth in fermenting beverages such as wine, preserve flavor and prevent spoilage. There are six sulfiting agents known to be used in food like sulfur dioxide, sodium and potassium metabisulfite, sodium and potassium bisulfite and sodium sulfite.
