  1. Tricalcium phosphate is used as a rising agent. It adds smoothness and opacity to reduced fat liquids and foods.

  3. Tricalcium Phosphate E341(iii) is used in candy, wine, beverages, cheese, and jams.
  4. Due to its mineral source, it can be used in vegan foods and is also allowed in organic products.


Tricalcium phosphate is a calcium salt of phosphoric acid. It is a white solid of low solubility. It exists as three crystalline polymorphs α, α', and β. It is one of many different calcium salts found in dietary supplements. Its primary function in fortification is to increase the calcium content of foods. It is almost insoluble in water, has a very low flavor profile.
