Recipe Notes

Whisk curd with some powdered sugar. Keep it in the fridge to cool.For the right consistency of the batter, do not add much water in it as this will make it thin.If you want the bhallas of the same size, you can use a scoop to drop the batter in hot oil. And make sure that oil is at right temperature, which means it should be on medium flame.

Methods
  • 1. Soak brown rice and urad daal for 4 hrs. Drain off the water and transfer to the mixi or grinder.
  • 2. Blend to smooth paste adding water as required try to add a minimal amount of water to prevent the batter
  • 3. Transfer the batter to a large bowl. Now add salt mix well using the whisk
  • 4. Now wit wet spoon or using hand drop a spoonful of batter into the hot oil. Keep the flaming on medium, stir occasionally.
  • 5. Fry until the Bhalla turns golden brown and crisp. Drain off the Bhalla over kitchen paper to remove excess oil
  • 6. Now in a large bowl take 5 cup hot water. Add 1/2 tbsp salt & 1/4 tbsp hing. Mix well making sure it is well combined.
  • 7. Now drop the hot fried Bhalla into the water and dip completely
  • 8. Soak for 30 minutes, after 30 minutes, squeeze off the water and transfer to plate
  • 9. How to assemble the dahi Bhalla for serving:-In a plate place bhallas. Add sweetened curd, khatti meethi chutney. Sprinkle some chat masala, garam masala, black pepper.
  • 10. Brown rice Dahi Bhalla is ready to be served, serve it chilled
