Goan Chicken Cafreal Recipe

Cafreal is among those important Goan delicacies which was introduced during Portuguese rule in Goa and has become an integral part of Goan Cuisine in the present day. Chicken Cafreal is spicy and tangy at the same time along with freshness added by coriander leaves. Ingredients used are quite limited but everything is quite balanced. In this particular recipe I have used Tasty Tales Goan Chicken Cafreal Paste which is a ready to mix and cook curry paste. Honestly I would always prefer to make Cafreal from scratch as in curry paste don't actually give you the authentic flavors and taste. In this dish the flavours of spices were too much overpowering thereby the balanced taste of authentic Cafreal was missing.

Ingredients For Goan Chicken Cafreal Recipe

  • 1. Firstly clean and wash the chicken pieces and keep aside. Add salt and turmeric powder and mix it well and keep.
  • 2. Take a kadai. Now add the tasty tales goan chicken cafreal paste in the kadai and 1/2cup to 3/4cup hot water and cook for 2-3minutes covering with a lid.
  • 3. Now add the salted chicken pieces to the cooked curry paste and give it a stir. Add little black pepper powder and stir it for a while.
  • 4. Now put a lid and let it cook for 20-25minutes till the chicken becomes tender. Make sure to stir in the intervals. Splash little hot water in between if required.
  • 5. Lastly garnish with some coriander leaves and serve hot.
