Recipe Notes

Don't roast urad dal, don't burn ghee, check the taste and adjust sugar and as per smoothness grind the urad dal.The ghee should be just enough to hold the powders together and not drip while making balls.shelf life is for about 2-3 weeks. You can store urad dal sugar mixture for upto 6 months in refrigerator. Bring to room temperature when desired to make laddus and then add hot ghee and prepare.

Methods
  • 1. Roast urad dal in a thick heavy pan until light brown. Do not overcook and roast it. Add rice and fry for 30 seconds and put off the stove.
  • 2. Fry it in lower flame till dal turns crunchy. Keep stirring so that dal doesn't burn.
  • 3. Let it cool.
  • 4. Powder the dal to smooth fine powder. Better to grind in a flour mill as it gives perfect smooth powder.
  • 5. To this add the sugar powder and check sweetness adjust as per your requirement and mix both very well.
  • 6. Heat ghee and pour over the powder and mix well with a spoon. Don't pour ghee at once. Keep pouring little by little and mix well.
  • 7. When its little warm you can shape them into rounds like laddus.
  • 8. Store in air tight container and serve.

Can I add dry fruits as well while preparing the mixture of ladoo??

This sweet itself is a very tasty.No need of adding anything else.As one laddu will make u feel heavy so if u add dry fruits its more heavier to eat.so i dont recommend
