Masala Fish Fry (Sindhi style) Recipe

This is sindhi style of cooking Masala fish fry. We Sindhi's consider dhaniya powder as a very important commodity in our kitchens. It is one of the most used spices and it's the hero for this dish. This fish is crisy and soft do try it once.

Recipe Notes

The pan should be heated well with the oil and if it's not do not add the fish as the fish will become soggy and not crispy. Do not add too much salt in the masala mix as the fish already has been marinated in salt water. Coat the raw fish perfectly with the dhaniya amd atta mix or yiu won't get a crispy Fish.

  • 1. You can use any fish I have used Rohu fish. The cuts and pieces can be of your choice.
  • 2. Keep the fish in salted water for 10-15 minutes.
  • 3. Then in a flat plate add 6-7 tbsp of wheat flour and 5-6 tbsp of dhaniya powder. Make this mixture according to the quantity of your Fish.
  • 4. Heat a tawa or a sauce pan with oil. Make sure the oil is hot.
  • 5. Squeeze the fish to remove the excess water. Now coat the fish with this mixture and Put in on the pan with hot oil.
  • 6. Allow it to get crispy on one side. Do not flip again and again.
  • 7. Till the fish gets cooked take another flat plate. Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, jeera powder, amchoor, salt and mix well.
  • 8. Once the fish is crispy and cooked (10 mins) keep the fish on the flat plate with the masala. Coat it well with the masala.
  • 9. Serve with a dash of lemon on top. Tastes best with coriander chutney.
