Aati Payasa from Justicia wynaadensis plant Recipe

Aati Payasa which has 18 great vitamins and nutrients. The amazing dessert made by Justicia wynaadensis densely aromatic herb also called (Aati soppu/Maddu soppu) which is contains rich vitamins, antioxidants and anti ageing properties. On 18th day of Aashada month which is called KAKKADA 18th, this plant emits a very pleasant and unique aroma, on this day the plant is harvested to make delicious desserts.

Remember some of the sweetness will be absorbed by grated coconut . You can add jaggery as per your taste bud. Soak rice for minimum 2 hours.

Ingredients For Aati Payasa from Justicia wynaadensis plant Recipe

Methods
  • 1. Take a bunch of Justica wynaadensis (Maddh thoppu) leaves add 1 liter water to it and bring it to boil until the water turns deep purple.
  • 2. Strain 4 cups of extracted juice to a kadai and bring it to boil and add 1 cup soaked rice and wait until rice is 3/4th cooked, then add Jaggery, Cardamom powder to it and stir occasionally.
  • 3. When the payasa is ready add freshly grated coconut roasted cashews and 2 tablespoons of ghee and turn off the flame.
  • 4. Serve this payasa with honey and ghee as toppings for better taste.
