Recipe Notes

Steaming should be done on low flame only and lid should be completely covered . The steam should remain inside.

Ingredients For Bengali Bhapa Sondesh Recipe

Methods
  • 1. Boil 1 liter cow milk .let it cool for 5 mins.then add lemon juice to make paneer.
  • 2. Take a strainer, place a thin cotton cloth on it and drain all the water through it and rinse the remaining paneer with 2-3 glasses of water. Then tie the paneer tightly in the fabric potli and drain all the water from it.
  • 3. Put the paneer in a mixer grinder, add 1teaspn Elaichi powder,1small bowl sugar ,1/4th cup milk ,then mix and grind them into a smooth paste.
  • 4. Take a seperate steamer (or kadhai) add 3-4 glasses of water place a stand in the centre. Take a separate dish which has at least 2 inches height, spread ghee on its base and add the grinded paste in that dish.
  • 5. Place the dish on the steamer and add saffron threads and milk masala. Then cover the steamer/kadhai with a lid completely. Steam on low flame for 20-25 minutes.
  • 6. After 25 mins carefully remove the bhapa sondesh and let it cool for 30 minutes .
  • 7. Cut them in your desired shape and your bhapa sondesh is ready to be served.
