It's an authentic Bengali recipe where one side of fish covered with mustard paste & other side with sweet & sour tamarind paste.Its a festive special recipe.
1.
Marinate the fish with salt & turmeric powder. Heat oil in a pan & fry the fish pieces.

Take out the fish from pan & add nigella seeds in the same oil. Let it crackle & then add mustard paste, salt, turmeric powder & 1tspb red chilli powder.

Add 2 cup of water. When water will start to boil then add fried fish pieces. Mind it in this recipe don't flip the other side of the fish .

Cook it till the gravy dried up from the one side of the fish.

In another pan heat a tspn oil & add mustard seeds & dry red chilli. Allow them to sputter. Add tamarind extract, turmeric powder,red chilli powder, salt & sugar. Add 1 cup of water & let it boil.

When the gravy comes to a boil, carefully added the fish pieces on the side untouched by the mustard gravy. Cook it till the gravy dried up little bit.
7.
Fish ganga jamuna is ready to serve. Sprinkle chopped coriander leaves & serve with hot rice.
