Flower Bread with Sankranti Twist Recipe

This is my innovative winter recipe. Winters mark the festivities of Sankranti so I made something special from the items which we indulge in during winters. Jaggery and sesame seeds are the base of my desert which gives it a unique flavour and taste. I tried to make something new with these flavours. Enjoy this unique Sankranti desert.

Recipe Notes

1. After adding jaggery to coconut and sesame seeds, stir constantly on low sim or otherwise it will get burnt.2. Decorate according to your wish.

Ingredients For Flower Bread with Sankranti Twist Recipe

Methods
  • 1. Cut the bread in the edges and make the flower shape by cutting and twisting the edges.
  • 2. Heat ghee and slightly toast the bread flower. Keep it aside.
  • 3. Boil milk in a deep bottom pan and stir continuously till it becomes thick and reduces to half the quantity.
  • 4. Allow the milk to cool slightly. Add date palm jaggery or nolen gur while the milk is still warm.
  • 5. Whisk properly till the jaggery dissolves and add the curd.
  • 6. Pour the mixture in bowls or earthen pots and keep in a warm place to set for 8 to 10 hours. Misti doi is ready.
  • 7. Heat a pan on medium flame and add coconut and sesame seeds. Saute it continuously by adding jaggery.
  • 8. Make a few small coconut sesame balls and keep aside.
  • 9. Now, to assemble, first place the ghee toasted bread on the plate. Then fill the centre with misti doi.
  • 10. Top the misti doi, with coconut sesame balls. Sprinkle the coconut sesame mixture on the side of the plate.
  • 11. Decorate with cherry, tuile and any other ingredients of your choice. Enjoy this unique Sankranti desert.
