Shahi Shakarpara Recipe

This Diwali Enjoy some special designer Sweet. Shahi Shakarpara is a traditional Indian sweet snack. It's royal shape makes it real Shahi. It can be stored for weeks. Shahi Shakarpara looks very tempting and preparing it is not a very big task. Other shakarpara is made with Maida and is coated with Sugar Syrup. But Today I made this shakarapara from Aashirvad aata . People of all age groups, especially children Loves it?. It is also a Festival Special sweet. So lets the recipe.

Recipe Notes

To avoid the sugar syrup getting crystallized add some lemon juice in it. Make a harder dough than a usual chapati dough. You can use oil for deep fry also.

Methods
  • 1. In a large bowl Take wheat flour add a pinch of salt and 2 tbsp ghee in it and mix it well. After its being mixed well start adding water little by little and make a smooth dough and knead it well for 5 minutes. Make sure the dough is little bit harder than a usual chapati dough. Let it rest for sometime.
  • 2. In a meantime lets Prepare sugar syrup Take a pan add 2 cup sugar and 1 cup of water mix it and boil till its little thicker, then add cardamom powder and saffron/kesar strands.
  • 3. Take a small ball of dough place it on chapati rolling stand dust it with flour press it and rolling into a round shape. Roll it little thinner cut them in rectangle shape.Using a knife draw line on both sides and on other two sides as well.
  • 4. Now rectangle shape ready, always leave a gap between on the top and also at bottom. In the middle part cut a line make sure don't cut till the end, same way cut the straight line till the end of the rectangle.
  • 5. In a small bowl take little water wet corner of the rectangle and fold it, shape it in half and press it again wet the corners with water and fold it so that it sticks well. Repeat at other end as well.
  • 6. Split the center part in two half there's a gap in between take one tip of the shape insert it in the gap bring it down and pull it forward just shake it you will get the mathri shape. Repeat the same process and create the shapes of mathri.
  • 7. Take a ghee in a kadhai and deep fry all mathris till light golden in color. Gas flame should be low.
  • 8. Then add mathris in a sugar syrup for at least 2 hours so that it get absorb and after 2 hours drain it out .
  • 9. Its ready to serve garnish it with silver work and chopped dry fruits.
