Asian Chicken Lettuce Wrap

This is a quick and easy to make healthy, low carb, gluten free recipe. You can use Chicken with any veggies you want for the filling. If you want to make a veg version you can use tofu or Paneer (cottage cheese) instead. This recipe is easy to make using pantry staples. Even if you don’t have everything, it is adaptable and still tastes great. So go ahead and try it out!

Recipe Notes

You can use sesame oil instead of olive oil for more flavour. Hoisin sauce instead of oyster sauce and Sriracha sauce instead of hot chili sauce

Ingredients For Asian Chicken Lettuce Wrap

Methods
  • 1. Cook the chicken thighs in a pan by sauteing them in olive oil in a pan and add some salt to it.
  • 2. Cook for 15 min or until the chicken is no longer pink (check from inside).
  • 3. Once cooked properly take the chicken off the pan and transfer to a clean bowl, set it aside.
  • 4. Once it cools cut the chicken thighs into small tiny pieces.
  • 5. In the same pan, add more oil if needed and saute onions and garlic.
  • 6. Once the onions become translucent, add the green capsicum and the bell peppers stirring occasionally for 3-4 min.
  • 7. Return the Chicken pieces to the pan and add ginger and stir until fragrant, about 30sec.
  • 8. Now add all the 3 sauces one by one - Soya/Oyster and hot chili sauce - stir for another 30-60 seconds.
  • 9. Check and taste and accordingly, add salt and any other sauce if required.
  • 10. Now take the lettuce leaves and place a generous spoonful of chicken mixture in the middle of the leaf, Garnish with Spring onion leaves thinly sliced and hot sauce or red pepper flakes if you like it hot and spicy.
  • 11. The lettuce wrap is ready to eat.
  • 12. You can also break all the lettuce leaves in a plate and place them on the table along with Spring onion leaves/hot sauce/chili flakes and serve the chicken mixture in a large bowl or straight from the pan/skillet and give everyone a spoon to dig in and make their own wraps the way they want.
