Assorted Aussie Slices Recipe

Looking for a sweet treat? This condensed milk slice has a sweet, caramel flavour with hits of dark chocolate, marshmallow, peanut butter and almond goodness. A slice is an Australian dessert. It's a type of heavy cake that is cooked in a tray and cut into square pieces. My assorted condensed milk slice combines a biscuit (cookie) base with a condensed milk topping that caramelises as it bakes giving a porous top with your favourite toppings. It’s a sweet, fudgy slice perfect for when you need a special afternoon treat or dessert with a hot cup of dark coffee. And while it needs to be baked twice, it’s a very easy slice to make.

Methods

How to make Assorted Aussie Slices Recipe

1. Preheat oven to 180°C (360°F). Grease and line a 26cm x 16cm baking tray.
2. Combine butter, vanilla and brown sugar in a bowl, sift flour and baking powder and mix with butter mixture.
3. Press the mixture into the pan with your fingertips. Bake for 12 minutes or until golden. Let cool for 5 minutes.
4. Make 4 portions of the baked cookies base. Roughly chop the chocolate. Sprinkle chocolate and almonds evenly over one part of cooked base.
5. Put marshmallows on second part of the base. On third part put almonds and peanut butter.
6. On fourth part put some caramel cups.
7. Carefully pour condensed milk all over the cookie .
8. Bake for 18 – 20 minutes or until golden.
9. Cool completely and cut into squares.
10. Drizzle some melted chocolate and serve with a cup of black coffee.
