A meal in South India is incomplete without curd rice served with a hint of pickle. Yes!! It is. So here Iam sharing traditional Andhra style Dadhyonnam Or Daddojannam i.e Curd Rice. It is good health as it is fermented. Do try this comfort food.

Recipe Notes

Ensure to use curd which is not sour. If curd is sour then you need to add milk and then allow it to ferment. I used curd which is not sour so skipped adding milk.

Ingredients For Dadhyojanam | Daddojannam - Andhra style curd rice Recipe

Methods
  • 1. Wash the raw rice for 3 times in sufficient water.
  • 2. Drain the water from rice. Pressure cook the rice along with water for 3 whistles.
  • 3. Turn off the flame and allow it to cool down.
  • 4. In the meanwhile, prepare tempering by pouring oil in a pan.
  • 5. Add mustard seeds, blackgram dal and spilt chick pea one after the other and fry until golden.
  • 6. Then add red chilly pieces , curry leaves and turn off the flame.
  • 7. Remove the lid of the cooker and mash the rice.
  • 8. Add the curd and salt to it. Mix well to form a smooth and soft texture.
  • 9. Transfer the tempering over the curd rice. Mix again.
  • 10. Serve with pickle.
