Mangser jhal pitha recipe (chicken layered & fried dumplings)

There is a variety of pithe that are made on the occasion of Bengal. Mangser jhal pitha is one of the best and usually served as a snacks dish. Chicken lovers would definitely drool over this dish. The outer part of the pitha is multi-layered ,crispy and inner part is filled with semi dry, spicy and soft chicken masala. The dish can be served with tomato sauce, mustard sauce and spicy doodh cola mocktail to enjoy the party.

Ingredients For Mangser jhal pitha recipe (chicken layered & fried dumplings)

Methods
  • 1. Heat mustard oil in a pan. Add chopped onion and garlic paste.
  • 2. Fry until it becomes golden brown. Add mashed potato and chicken.
  • 3. Saute on a medium flame. After sometime add rest spices one after another.
  • 4. Sprinkle some water and cover the pan with a lid.
  • 5. Turn the gas off when it becomes dry.
  • 6. Now combine maida, baking soda, ghee, sugar and salt in a bowl and mix well.
  • 7. Add lukewarm milk in it and make a soft yet non sticky dough. Cover it with a damp cloth and rest for half an hour.
  • 8. Divide into some equal portions and shape it like a balls and flatten it to a poori.
  • 9. Now grease all pooris with sunflower oil and sprinkle some maida over it because this helps to get flaky layers.
  • 10. Now place these three pooris layer by layer in a plate and add 1 tbsp chicken filling into the middle of the poori.
  • 11. Then seal the sides of the dumplings carefully.
  • 12. Deep fry until they are golden brown. Serve hot.
