MEDU VADA RECIPE

A traditional favorite breakfast and snack of south India, non-other than the classic Medu Vada. Very popular all over India, and is relished by all. Small ring shaped dumplings made with flavorful urad dal batter, deep fried until golden. Crispy from outside and super fluffy from the inside. The flavor is insane when served with sambar and coconut chutney. Sheer delight to start off your day.

Ingredients For MEDU VADA RECIPE

Methods
  • 1. Soak 1 cup urad dal in water overnight.
  • 2. Drain the water and grind to fine paste adding water as required
  • 3. Add 4 water to make smooth thick paste.
  • 4. Transfer urad dal paste put in baking soda mix well this makes medu vada soft and fluffy.
  • 5. Add cumin seeds, chopped ginger, few curry leaves, 2 tbsp coriander, dry coconut pieces, rice flour, samolina and salt to taste, samolina and salt to taste, samolina and salt to taste.
  • 6. Heat the oil in large kadai wet your hands with enough water and take a small ball sized dough and make it round.
  • 7. Take a plastic plate sprinkle water on it take a scoop of batter, shape the edges and make a hole at the centre.
  • 8. Heat a deep kadai and add oil once the oil heats drop the vada in oil and deep fry by turning each sides until they turn golden brown and crispy.
  • 9. Serve hot medu vada prepared with chutney or sambar of your choice.
