Prawn Mushroom Ghee Roast

Prawn Ghee Roast is a very popular dish in Mangalore. Mangalore is a famous city in Karnataka on the coast of Arabian Sea. Prawns are easily available here as it is situated in the coastal area. This is a perfect side dish with biriyani, ghee rice, roti or Malabar paratha. It is easy to make and can be served as an appetizer also.I added mushrooms here to make a slight different dish.

Ingredients For Prawn Mushroom Ghee Roast

Methods
  • 1. Marinate the prawns with salt and deep fry in oil. Dry roast red chilies and allow them to cool. Then make a paste of the roasted chilies, garlic, ginger, tomatoes, roasted cumin powder
  • 2. Now saute the mushrooms in the same oil and keep aside.
  • 3. Add 3 tbsp ghee in a fresh kadai, add chopped onions and fry till light brown. Add the paste and now cook till oil starts releasing on the sides. Add salt to taste, turmeric powder, and Kashmiri red chili powder.
  • 4. Add 1/4 cup water once the masala curry gets cooked. Add yogurt at this stage and stir continuously.
  • 5. Now its time to add the fried prawns and some fresh curry leaves and green chilies. Simmer the prawns till they get cooked in the gravy and keep stirring nicely till the gravy is dry. Serve as starters for your guests at home.
