Dahi Vada is a snack originating from the Indian subcontinent and popular throughout South Asia. It is prepared by soaking vadas (fried flour balls) in thick dahi (yogurt). Dahi vada is popular north indian snacks which is made during special occassion & festivals. This tasty snacks consist by fried urad dal dumplimgs dunked in a creamy whipped yogurt topped with spicy & sweet chutneys.

Methods
  • 1. Soak the lentils in enough water overnight or for 4 to 5 hr.
  • 2. Drain the and add the lentils in a wet grinder. Also add chopped green chilli,chopped ginger,hing..
  • 3. Add water in intervals and grind to a smooth batter.
  • 4. Take a ground batter in a bowl. Stir the batter briskly for a couples of a minutes. This makes tha batter more lightly & fluffy..
  • 5. Add the kishmish along with salt. Stir and keep aside.
  • 6. Heat a kadhai or pan with oil for deep fry. When the oil beacomes medium hot,add spoonfuls of the batter in a oil.
  • 7. When u see the vada becoming pale golden from the base & sides, u can turn them.
  • 8. Fry the vada till they become golden & crisp. Drain on napkin paper.
  • 9. In another bowl take warm water,with cumin powder,hing,salt. Add vada to the water soak them for 10 to 15 min.
  • 10. Take each vada and flatten and press between ur palm to remove excess water.
  • 11. Place these vada in serving bowl or tray. Whisk sweety yogurt till the smooth. Pour the yogurt over the vada.
  • 12. Top with green chutney and tamarind chutney as required.
  • 13. Sprinkle the red chilli powder, cumin powder, black salt, salt and chaat masala.
  • 14. Garnished dahi vada with chopped coriander leaves.
  • 15. Serve dahi vada immediately or refrigerate and serve later.
