Recipe Notes

Pabda or catfish r very soft in nature care should be taken while frying them so that they donot break. The oil and pan both should be nicely heated before frying otherwise the fishes may stick to the pan.

Ingredients For Shorsha Pabda (Indian Catfish curry)

Methods
  • 1. Fisrt marinate the fish with salt ,turmeric n set aside for 2 to 3 minutes.
  • 2. Next heat a pan and shallow fry the fishes n set aside.
  • 3. Make a paste with soaked mustard seeds,2 green chillies n 1/4 cup water.
  • 4. Take a bowl and pour all the spices, add 1/4 cup water n prepare a mixture. Now in the same oil used for frying the fishes, put the black cumin, cumin and then add the liquid spice mixture stir continuously.
  • 5. At this stage adjust the salt .Do not give too much as the fish is alredy sauted with salt n turmeric.Now after a boil add the mustard paste n stir again .Now drop the fishes into the gravy n gently stir n cook for 2 to3 minutes.Switch off the flame .
  • 6. Now it's time to serve the shorsha Pabda.Garnish with chopped coreander,green chilli n 1/2 tsp raw mustard oil for that extra flavour.
