Chandrakala Recipe

Chandrakala is a famous sweet of Bihar which is very popular during Diwali and other festivities, they can be made easily at home too. These are little fried pastry parcels filled with khoya, mixed with nuts and garnished with with saffron, then dipped in a light sugar syrup.

Ingredients For Chandrakala Recipe

Methods
  • 1. Take 2 tbsp ghee and salt in a mixing bowl. Add maida and mix well.
  • 2. Add milk slowly and knead the dough to a make smooth and soft dough.
  • 3. For Filling, roast rava in a pan till it changed the colour and then add grated coconut.
  • 4. Roast for 2 minutes and keep aside.
  • 5. Heat ghee in pan and add khoya in it. Stir continuously and add chopped cashews, sugar powder and cardamom powder and mix well.
  • 6. Add this into rava mixture and mix well. Stuffing is ready.
  • 7. Make 8 equal size balls from dough and roll out like poori.
  • 8. put some stuffing on a poori and keep another poori on it. seal the edges and make twisted pattern from your fingers.
  • 9. Heat oil in a pan and deep fry all stuffed pooris till golden brown in colour.
  • 10. Make sugar syrup from sugar and water. Add saffron threads and switch off the heat.
  • 11. Dip all fried sweets in hot sugar syrup and keep in it for 5 minutes.
  • 12. Remove from sugar syrup, garnish with chopped pistachios and enjoy.
