Ingredients For Bisi Bele Bath Recipe

Methods
  • 1. For bisi bele bath masala, dry roast all listed masalas in a pan.
  • 2. Roast on low flame without burning the spices.
  • 3. When roasted spices are cooled completely, transfer to the mixer jar, add ½ tsp turmeric and blend to a fine powder.
  • 4. Soak toor dal in water for 20 minutes.
  • 5. In a pressure cooker take toor dal, rice, water and salt.
  • 6. Add turmeric, 1 tsp oil and pressure cook for 5 whistles.
  • 7. In a large kadahi, heat 2 tbsp oil and splutter mustard, peanuts.
  • 8. Fry for a minute, then add chopped onion.
  • 9. Fry for 2 minutes, now add chopped veggies, salt and saute until the vegetables soften.
  • 10. Now add 3 cup water and boil until the vegetables are cooked well.
  • 11. Add tamarind extract and boil well.
  • 12. Add bisi bele bath masala, chilli powder and saute until the spices are well cooked.
  • 13. Add cooked rice-dal, water and mix well adjusting the consistency.
  • 14. Cover and simmer until the flavours are absorbed well.
  • 15. Fry cashews and dry red chilli in oil, pour over cooked bisi bele bath and serve hot.
