Kacchi Dabeli Recipe

It’s a spicy and sweet Gujarati snack made by mixing boiled mashed potatoes with a special Dabeli masala and placing it in between Ladi Pav. It is served with mint and Imli chutney garnished with pomegranate, roasted peanuts and sev. A yummy Indian alternate to your burger cravings

Recipe Notes

You can prepare dabeli masala and store it in an airtight container. It’ll last for a long time. Onion is totally optional, you can skip it, dabeli tastes equally good. You can skip pomegranate too

Methods
  • 1. In a large wok, heat 2 tbsp oil/ghee
  • 2. Add dabeli masala and tamarind chutney, saute on medium flame for a minute
  • 3. Add mashed potato along with ½ tsp salt Mix potatoes well with masala and cook for a minute
  • 4. Transfer to a plate and spread the stuffing evenly
  • 5. Sprinkle grated coconut , coriander leaves, finely chopped onion, handful of pomegranate seeds(optional) and se
  • 6. Garnish with 2 tbsp masala peanut
  • 7. Slit pav and create a pocket
  • 8. Spread 1 tsp of tamarind chutney on one side of pav and other side with garlic/mint chutney
  • 9. Stuff ½ tbsp of dabeli stuffing, press it into pav
  • 10. Sprinkle some chopped onions
  • 11. Pour ½ tsp of tamarind chutney and garlic chutney
  • 12. Again stuff ½ tbsp dabeli stuffing and level it out
  • 13. On a hot pan, apply some butter and place stuffed pav
  • 14. Cook on medium flame flipping both sides till the dabeli turns crisp
  • 15. Finally, roll all sides of dabeli in sev
  • 16. Serve hot
